Annual Native
Plant Sale 9 am - 12 Noon (Proceeds to support our own South Milwaukee Middle School Environmental Club)
Are your thoughts turning to summer? Are you dreaming of your garden this year? If so, you may want to consider using landscaping plants that are: * attractive and interesting * hardy, needing very low maintenance * able to thrive in a wide range of soil/sun conditions * native to Wisconsin * perennial (no replanting every year!)
Look no further! On Saturday, May 10th, 9 am - Noon, the SMMS Environmental Club is holding our Annual Native Plant Sale near Door #49 behind the Middle School. We’ll be selling a wide variety of beautiful native grasses and flowering plants. This year’s species include: Pale Purple Coneflower, Swamp Milkweed, Riddell’s Goldenrod, Purple Prairie Clover, Old Field Goldenrod, Marsh Blazing Star, Angelica, Side Oats Grama, Little Bluestem, Indian Grass, Dudley’s Rush and Virginia Wild Rye. (We will also have a selection of non-native vegetable garden plants this year, including tomatoes, peppers, and herbs.)
Just in time for Mother’s Day, these plants would make wonderful gifts! Prices are $6 per 4-pack, well below garden center prices! For more detailed information (or to place a pre-sale order) contact Chris Bosetti at 766-5890.
