      2. sleeping bag (down or synthetic, rated to 20-30° F)

      4. lightweight bowl and spoon
      5. matches/lighters
      6. stove and fuel
      7. sunglasses
      8. utility knife (e.g. Swiss Army)
      9. water bottles (at least 2 1-liter)
      10. water purification (filter or iodine)
       
    • Clothing

      1. bandanna
      2. boots (broken in and waterproofed)
      3. camp shoes (old tennies; Tevas; moccasins)
      4. liner gloves
      5. rain jacket and pants
      6. shorts - 1 pair
      7. socks 3 pair (wool or synthetic, liners or not--your preference)
      8. cool weather
        1. gloves or mittens - wool/fleece
        2. hat - wool or fleece
        3. sweater or jacket - wool or fleece
        4. underwear
          • 1 long bottoms (synthetic)
          • 1 long top (synthetic; zip-T style is best)
          • extra underwear (optional)
          • 1 T-shirt (cotton or synthetic)
       
    • Considerations

      1. compass (if you know how to use it)
      2. small flashlight or headlamp
      3. toilet paper in zip-lock bag
      4. potty trowel
      5. extra zip-locks/trash bags
      6. lip balm
      7. toothbrush/toothpaste (travel size)
      8. pack rain cover or garbage bag
      9. bear-bagging cord

      1. baseball cap
      2. extra long underwear top, wool shirt, or fleece vest if you tend to be cold ((pick ONE))
      3. small hair brush/comb

  • Winter Camping

      1. Lightweight synthetic zip-T top
      2. Lycra tights
      3. Midweight synthetic henley top
      4. 2 pair synthetic liner socks (keep a dry pair for sleeping)
      5. Wool hiking socks (2 pair)
      6. Medium weight polyester/Lycra underwear bottoms
      7. Lightweight liner gloves
       
    • Insulation layer

      1. Microfleece zip-T
      2. Down booties
      3. Stretch fleece tights
      4. Stretch fleece hat
      5. Fleece vest
      6. Thermax headband
      7. Acrylic neck gaiter
      8. Fleece gloves with reinforced palm
      9. Ultralight down jacket
       
    • Shell Layer

      1. Waterproof/breathable anorak
      2. Gaiters
      3. Waterproof/ breathable rainpants
      4. Pack boots
      5. Waterproof overmitts
