About AFS South Milwaukee AFS is an international, not-for-profit organization that each year provides hundreds of American high school students the opportunity to live and study in a foreign land. Just as important, each year hundreds of American families host a high school age "son" or "daughter" from another country. AFS helps promote world peace by bringing people of all cultures together in a family type environment. The experience is a truly personal and rewarding for both the student and the host families. The South Milwaukee chapter has had at least one AFS student stay here nearly every year since 1950.
